Battery quality assurance with MVTec on Siemens Industrial Edge
The demo shows the automated optical end-of-line inspection of 4680 battery cell top caps with MVTec MERLIC. By combining rule-based and deep learning methods, defects such as scratches, contaminants, or deformations of the battery cell can be detected – quickly and robustly. The defect detection developed with MERLIC is platform-independent and can be seamlessly integrated into the Siemens Industrial Edge Ecosystem.
Coating check
The "Coating Check" demo, implemented by MVTec integration partner aku.automation, shows the surface inspection of an electrode foil in the coating and calendering production steps. The MVTec HALCON software detects and classifies surface defects such as pinholes, agglomerates, scratches, foreign particles and other irregularities. This is achieved through leading filter options, high-precision edge detection and automatic operator parallelization (AOP, allowing multiple processes to run in parallel). The combination of high-resolution image capture, powerful image processing and the aku.visionManager® ensures the highest quality standards in electrode production.
